This Week...

This week...
I will not rush off to accomplish as many chores as possible while the Little Miss takes her naps.  I will rock her to sleep and memorize the feeling of her little body pressed against mine, her head on my left shoulder, face turned to the right.  Laying my cheek on the back of her head and smelling her sweet, soft, albeit almost invisible hair.  Her knees pressed into my tummy and her feet tucked in by my hips.  Her left hand clutched in a fist on my chest gripping just a bit of my shirt.  Her right hand flung carelessly at my side.  Her breath moving her entire body up and down slowly against my mid-section.  Every few minutes she does a big double breath followed by a sigh.  I am, as Grammy Nita says, baby furniture, and I love every minute.

This week...
I will stand at the changing table long after her nappy has been refreshed for this is when we have our best conversations.  We'll talk and talk until she's done, usually marked by a reddening of the eyebrows and a screech demanding a change of scenery.

This week...
I will carry her in her baby carrier on my walks instead of the stroller so that we can be closer, heart to heart.

This week...
I will sit and lazily enjoy each breastfeeding session and not worry one bit if we are late for anything due to it.

This week...
I will appreciate every moment because it is the last week of the magic few months I've had of just being a Mom.  I am very lucky in that I only  have to return to work on a part time schedule and get to work from home quite a bit, but this week does mark the end of a very special time.  A time when my only real responsibility was to show my daughter heaps of love every day.  No worrying yet about discipline, naps, etc.  Just making sure our baby was healthy and happy.  Next week I go back to working, shopping when the masses are out, traffic, sleep schedules, slacks & heels, etc.

But this week...
I will enjoy every moment of getting to be a Mom.
